This is the world of
Yrdra
“A playground for the pillars of mankind
Where man, angel, and god lived harmoniously
And Fate flowed like a river —alighted black sand
‘Til the star spread an indigo veil ghastly
That angel bound and man forget
Our Code—”

Our Statement on Cultural Appropriation
“At Unfated Studios, we recognize the importance of cultural integrity and the responsibility that comes with drawing inspiration from real-world cultures. The mission of our upcoming game Batara: Fate Unbound is not intended to be a direct representation of any one culture, including Indonesia, but rather a work of fiction that creatively incorporates diverse elements such as design, motifs, and themes. It began as a passion project of our founder, Roofi, as he wanted to bring elements of his native Indonesian culture into conversation with the media he was reading growing up, like Kentaro Miura’s Berserk or Bethesda’s Skyrim.
While we have intentionally mixed various cultural influences with our own creative ideas and fantasy concepts, we want to be clear that the world we’re building is a fantasy world—one that is not meant to be a reflection or accurate portrayal of any specific culture or country.
We believe Indonesian visual culture is consistently underrepresented in western media, with most western gamers not being able to name even a single Indonesian character from any media. We believe there are so many rich, beautiful and unique designs that would be loved and appreciated by anyone who saw them, and so we want to mix them into the traditional fantasy mainstream created by games like Dark Souls, authors like Brandon Sanderson, and movies like The Lord of the Rings.
If any aspect of the game feels inappropriate or misrepresents the cultures we draw from, we are open to feedback.
Thank you for your support as we continue to craft the world of Yrdra.”
Sincerely,
The Unfated Studios Team
